What to expect from this blog

Hi, I’m Francesco, a drummer and teacher originally from Milan, now based in Connecticut. Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was drawn to it as a kid, picking up the guitar at age eight and teaching myself how to play. After a few years I discovered the drums, and that is when I truly found the instrument that felt like home.

My teenage years were completely shaped by music. I spent nearly all my free time playing with friends, going to concerts, and listening to anything I could get my hands on. Rock was my first love, but as time went on I began to explore new sounds and rhythms. That curiosity eventually led me into jazz, Latin, and funk, and those styles continue to inspire how I play and listen today.

I started out self-taught, then took private lessons with many different teachers who each gave me something valuable. Learning from so many perspectives helped me grow not only as a drummer but also as a listener and student. Today I continue to study, most recently with Rick Dior, whose guidance has been instrumental in pushing me further into the world of jazz and Afro-Cuban drumming.

I created this site to bring everything together: my playing, my teaching, and my reflections on what it means to grow as a musician. Social media can feel quick and scattered, but I wanted a place where I could go deeper and share my journey in a more meaningful way.

This blog will be a mix of practice tips I have picked up (and continue to refine), thoughts on teaching beginners and intermediate students, and updates on my own playing and projects. My goal is not to preach or hand out perfect advice, but to share what has helped me, what has not, and hopefully offer something useful to others on their own path.

If you are a student, a fellow musician, or simply curious about drumming, I hope you will find something here that resonates.
